This chair was brought to us with a broken back: the sides broke where they join the arms and one of the back spindles was broken and loose.
The chair was dismantled and the broken part cut off completely, then replaced by a piece of timber scarfed in and pegged. It was then carved, shaped and a slot cut to insert the arm.
The arms are then joined to the repaired frame. A new spindle was cut to size and slotted in place of the broken one.
The arms are secured by being pegged from the back.
Once repaired, the armchair is ready for recolouring and refinishing.
