A nice little job restoring a small 19th Century table used as a coffee table.
The top finish was falling apart and showed inconsistent colouring due to the boards used being made of different timbers, and there were also some dark ring marks.
The challenge was to recolour the top so as to mask the difference in shades, remove the black marks and refinish it so that it is as uniform as possible.
Challenge accepted and a total success after sanding off the old finish, removing the ring marks with oxalic acid, and repair the drawer’s runners which were coming off.
