This lovely little rosewood writing slope was structurally sound with all its interior in good condition. It had its original ink bottles and leatherwork. It was missing some of the brass inlays and details on its exterior and was crying out for refinishing where the original shellac had degraded. The portable lap top of its day where text and information were generated with pen and ink.

The first order of business is to cut and shape some brass stringing and inlays to replace the missing ones

The new brass stringing and inlays are pressed into place and bonded with epoxy before the original finish is removed along with cleaning up the existing brass ware.

The original finish is removed and all surfaces prepared for French polishing which will really make that stunning rosewood grain eventually sing out.

Polished and prepared to be returned to its owner.
