This little side table arrived in our workshop with heaps of problems: the finish was almost completely gone, the veneer was dry, cracked, and faded by UV light, some chunks were missing in places, and one of the feet was full of wormholes.
The cracked top was fixed by gluing in some lengths of rosewood veneer, then the table was completely dismantled and cleaned up. Finally, a new foot was turned to replace the damaged one.
Once reassembled, we applied 4 coats of lacquer to show off the beautiful rosewood grain, and an authentic antique catch has been sourced and fitted to restore its tilt-top function.
Ready for another 50 years of use.
