Edwardian Revolving Bookcase Restoration

This little revolving bookcase suffered from several issues including faded finish, missing veneer, broken slats, and a broken revolving mechanism.

We first fixed the revolving mechanism before tackling the timber structure.

All the slats were removed and cleaned up. Then the damaged ones were removed, and we created some new ones to replace them. They were recolored to match before sealing everything.

We then replaced the missing veneer with patches of yew veneer and marquetry banding.

Finally, 4 coats of lacquer were then applied to seal and protect the surfaces and ensure that it’s all set for the next century.
